Geraldton Mining Scholarship

Overview

In 2011 MMG Golden Grove announced a new scholarship which commenced in 2012, created to recognise the contribution of the Geraldton community to more than 20 years of operation at Golden Grove, and intended to encourage and support local Geraldton students to complete a university degree in a mining- or resources-related field.

The MMG Golden Grove Undergraduate Scholarships provides financial support to secondary students from the Midwest Region of Western Australia so that they can continue their education at specific tertiary institutions. The scholarship does this by awarding two (2) scholarships on an annual basis.

MMG Golden Grove Curtin University Scholarship

Awarded to a first-year undergraduate student studying at Curtin University. To be eligible, applicants must have completed secondary schooling in the Midwest region and successfully gained entry into one of the nominated degree programs.

MMG Golden Grove University of Western Australia Scholarship

Awarded to a first-year undergraduate student at the University of Western Australia. To be eligible, applicants must have completed secondary schooling in the Midwest region and successfully gained entry into one of the nominated degree programs.

How to apply

The annual value of the each scholarship is $5,000 per year, for 3 years. If the relevant course is longer than 3 years in duration, MMG may, at its discretion, extend the scholarship for the duration of the course.

Further details can be obtained from careers@mmg.com or the Golden Grove Community Relations Team at GGCommunity@mmg.com.

Applications close in February with the scholarships typically awarded in March. Decisions will be based upon academic merit, community contribution and commitment to the resources industry.
