Sepon development trust fund
Vilabouly District is host to the Sepon mine. It is also one of the 47 poorest districts of the Lao PDR. The Sepon Development Trust Fund provides US$500,000 a year for Vilabouly District.
Expenditure is in line with the Lao Government’s medium-term development plans and is not restricted to the areas closest to operations.
A committee made up of representatives from the district and provincial government, and the company, determines what the funds will be spent on.
In 2010, 44 Trust Fund projects were completed, including the extension of electricity supplies, improvement of school buildings and the provision of hospital equipment.
