Centacare Indigenous Children's Program

A key element in Golden Grove’s life of mine investment agreement with the Shire of Yalgoo is continuing support of Centacare’s Indigenous Parenting Services Program (IPS).

The program aims to build stronger and more sustainable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and build culturally strong parenting and support for families.

It began in 2004 as a four-year project and in 2008 Golden Grove committed to extend its financial support for the program as part of its community investment support in the investment agreement with the Shire of Yalgoo.

The program involves support-trips to the nearest regional centre for carers and parents, playgroups, a community Op Shop,  music activities, cooking classes for children, photography workshops, a men’s support group and health-based community projects.
