People and communities
Overview
At MMG, our commitment to people and communities is central to how we mine for progress. We focus on keeping every person safe and well while building a thriving culture of care, inclusion and respect. Strong performance starts with strong foundations: clear standards, capable leaders and everyday actions that protect the physical and mental wellbeing of our workforce.
With mining operations located within existing communities, we foster relationships built on respect, trust, transparent communication and consistent engagement. We work in partnership with host communities and Indigenous peoples, listening to local priorities and seeking to reflect those voices in planning and decision-making across the life of our sites. Respect for people also means respecting human rights. We work to identify, assess and manage social and human rights risks proportionate to context, and to provide accessible mechanisms for concerns to be raised and addressed.
The focus areas under this pillar bring together the work that matters most to our people and our host regions. They cover how we manage health, safety and wellbeing with disciplined risk management and learning; how we strengthen social engagement and investment to deliver meaningful, lasting outcomes; and how we build a high-performing, inclusive culture through capability development, diversity and fair work practices.
See how our approach, commitments and performance are supported by data, case studies and disclosures that show how we embed respect for people and communities into day-to-day operations and long-term decisions.
