Social engagement and investment

Why this is a focus area

Communities are at the heart of our operations. For MMG, strong social performance is built on listening, trust and long‑term relationships—not just programs or compliance requirements. We engage openly and respectfully with host communities and Indigenous peoples, seeking to understand local priorities and reflect them in planning and decision‑making across the life of our assets.

This focus area brings together two material topics that guide our approach to relationships in our host regions: Respect for Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples and Local and Regional Development. These topics reflect our commitment to culturally appropriate engagement, inclusive decision-making, and practical initiatives that support livelihoods and resilience over time.

Across our sites, this work includes maintaining regular dialogue, aligning social investment with community priorities, and strengthening local participation in opportunities created through employment, training and procurement. It includes managing social and human rights risks proportionate to context, maintaining accessible grievance mechanisms, and continuing to build capability to work through complexity with care and transparency.

To see how we are tracking, follow the data table tiles and links on this page. They provide performance information and trends that sit behind our disclosures and help show what progress looks like in practice.
