Minmetals Resources Limited (HK.1208) (the Company) today received shareholder approval to change its registered company name to MMG Limited. The Chinese name of the Company (五礦資源有限公司) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange code of 1208 will remain unchanged.
The Company announced its proposal to change the name on 30 July after receiving an undertaking from China Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals Company Limited, which through its subsidiaries holds approximately 71.72% of the issued share capital of the Company, that it will vote in favour of the proposed change and subsequent amendments to the Company’s memorandum and articles of association.
MMG (the acronym applied to Minerals and Metals Group) was the operating name given to the assets purchased by China Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals Company Limited in 2009. The name change seeks to align the listed company English name with the name in common use throughout the operating assets.
Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr Andrew Michelmore said, “We are pleased to have received shareholder approval to change our registered company name from Minmetals Resources Limited to MMG Limited.”
“We believe that the MMG name supports our vision to create an international upstream base metals business. It also recognises our strong connection to China Minmetals Corporation while better aligning our people and assets to our current operating name and brand mark,” he said.
The change of company name is subject to the granting of the certificate of change of name by the Registrar of Companies in Hong Kong. A further announcement will be made by the Company when the change of company name becomes effective.
