Deepest ever onshore exploration hole in Tasmania

MMG Rosebery’s multi-million dollar exploration program has recorded a significant milestone.

The mine has drilled the deepest ever exploration hole onshore in Tasmania, at a depth of 2.6 kilometres.

Rosebery Mine General Manager Steve Scott said the three-month project has delivered encouraging results.

“Rosebery Mine sits on a world class orebody that has the potential to take the operation well beyond 100 years,” he said.

“Our focus over the past two years has been on unlocking Rosebery’s full potential and this is another step in the right direction.”

This latest project has seen MMG Rosebery discover further polymetallic resources.

“This is significant for the long-term future of MMG Rosebery and the ongoing contribution we make to the local community, the West Coast and more broadly Tasmania for almost 90 years.

Last year MMG Rosebery announced that Ore Reserves had increased by 2.3 million tonnes, which supports up to 7 years of mine life at Rosebery while Mineral Resource increased to 25 million tonnes, 39% increase from 2023.

MMG announced in 2023 that it was investing $54 million in exploration to extend the life of Rosebery Mine.
