MMG Chairman and China Minmetals President Mr Zhou Zhongshu met with General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR, Chounmaly Saygnasone on the occasion of his visit to Beijing yesterday.
MMG operates the Sepon copper and gold project in south central Laos in which the Lao Government is a 10% shareholder.
Mr Zhou extended a warm welcome to General Secretary Saygnasone and his delegation and gave him an overview of China Minmetals and its history.
Mr Zhou said that through MMG, China Minmetals would put great efforts in to the future development of the Sepon project looking to recommence work on the copper expansion program when economic conditions allowed.
General Secretary Saygnasone said that it was a great pleasure to visit China and hoped the Sepon project would become a benchmark for bilateral economic and business relations between the two countries.
